Noobie looking to upgrade from stock

I recently purchased a 05 SCREW FX4 and would like to upgrade the stock exhaust. One of the trucks I test drove had a flowmaster on it and I loved the sound, but I am wondering if there are other options that are better. I am looking into the Flowmaster 40 series but Im open to suggestions. Thanks

I have the Flowmaster 40 and love the deep sound. The knock against it is that you lose a little low end torque, but that was not important to me. I wanted teh sound.

How loud is the 40 on the interior because I'm looking for a moderate external tone with limited internal tone and have been pointed toward a 50 series instead.

You can hear it slightly. But that is what I wanted. It's music to me. It is not a loud drone at all.

Well today was my birthday and took my "presents" and broke down for a original 40 series on my truck. It sounds amazing and was exactly what i was looking for. The cab drone is a little louder than expected, but not much more over stock. Now i feel my truck has the real sound a V8 should have.

Congrats on the purchase. I have a flowmaster on mine and love the sound, I went with the Super 44 though.

Get a tuner with custom tunes instead of a CAI. Just do the Gott's mod.

If your 2005 is a 5.4, you run the risk of running lean with a CAI and no custom tune.

I ran a Spectre CAI on my stock 05 5.4 with no issues. I just recently got a tuner on eBay cheap though and that made a bigger difference then the CAI did

ETA the tuner I bought is a Max Micro Tuner
