Gas mileage seems to be the same, and as for richer smelling I'm not sure.... I haven't had the truck a long time and really don't pay attention to what my exhaust smells like ;p

Dont need to smell the pipe. Stand behind it on a cold start, thats all you need to do to tell. Mine smells catless almost. Not good lol.

Like I said, don't stick your face down there. Like Darren said, on start-up, there is a noticeable difference in smells.
