FLOWMASTER 40 Towing a boat

Quick question for everyone. Got a 2001 F one Fiddy 4x4 5.4L with a 4r70w auto. I am picking up a boat in Wisconsin soon here (live in AZ.) 3600 mile round trip. I just put a flowmaster 40 series on my truck and wanted to know how they sound when towing? Am I going to want to put a gun in mouth from the drone when my truck is loaded. Oh its a supercrew. Anyone have experiance???

I would go with a super 44, but the original 40 won't be bad, to minimize the possibility of drone, ensure the muffler is mounted under the bed, not the cab

where were you planning on running the tip(s) to???

Short answer, yes.

Leave the truck to me in your will!

Why super 44? Thought they were even louder. Muffler is in original position as stock one was (under bed), so is the tip (behind passenger rear wheel.)

I pull a 25 Outlaw and I couldn't get the flowmaster off my truck quick enough. The drone drove me insane on long trips pulling the boat. What kind of boat did you buy? I can hardly wait to get mine back out.

Definite drone. Depends on your tolerance, and age

^ and how fast your driving while towing. You may be stuck in that drone area the whole way, and you may not.

Thanks guys I tow a 6'x10' trailer full of tools daily! I'm staying with 2.50" SI/SO. I was thinking Bullet but changed my mine to super 44 until now! lol. I think I will still try the 44;why should the outside world enjoy the sound and not me! Plus I have the tunes cranked anyways. I guess I just love thing to be loud!

bullet will be louder than a super 44. and you will probably wanna chop out your rear cats after the install, might not be loud enough for you.

So if I run stright pipe for now would that be close to the sound of a Bullet? Down the road I will change cats for hi flow! Next year is E-test time for me so I have a bit of time to decide that why to go. I still would like to go with Bullet 2.50" SI/SO

It wont be as deep as the bullet or hold as heavy pulsing of an idle from it not being deep toned, which is achieved from the packing in the shell, but it will give you some volume.
