Need opinion

Just got a 2007 FX4 and Im looking to get a cold air intake. Ive searched but havent found an exact answer and didnt feel like searching every thread so sorry if this is discussed a lot, which Im sure it is. Is it a waste of money to just get a cold air intake without a tune? Im on a budget and would like to avoid a tune if i can, even though I know it will make a much bigger difference, but don't want to send the 300 on a CAI if its not gonna do anything without a tune. Not looking for crazy performance numbers.

If I do go with a tune, which is the most inexpensive canned tune on the market right now? Thanks a lot!

I have seen more than a hand full of threads on this subject and the short answer is dont bother with a cai if your not gonna bother to tune it would be counter productive in more way than one. fyi hope that was helpful....

If your looking for the why, I recomend searching further in this section as well as intake and exhaust section. futher more the tunes, most canned tunes are not going to provide the input needed to compensate for the additional air intake. php, troyer performance, and a few others offer custom tunes for comprable prices to that of a canned tune.

Good Luck and be well.

No CAI if un-tuned. Useless waste of $$$.

Check out VMP tuning, but every custom tuner is near similar in price.

The $15 CAI is the only one worth it if you don't plan on tuning for it. (Gotts Intake mod)
