MBRP SIDO vs. Flowmaster 40 series.

Flowmaster 40 series is on replacing the MBRP. Received a great compliment yesterday. My mother-in-law said, and I am paraphrasing, "dear lord what have you done to make that truck so loud" .

Old MBRP Start

MBRP SIDO - Start

New Flowmaster Start

Flowmaster 40 Series - Start

Additional vids are in my signature. They include takeoff and a inside cab run. Suprisingly little drone at 2000 rpms and 60-65 mph. You do catch some drone at 1400-1600 rpms. My flowmaster is set up for bolted removal between the over axle pipes and the Y pipe if I want to change it out.

Just listening to your rev videos you posted, I think the MBRP sounds better. I don't see a "take off" video of it to compare to the flowmaster...

Sounds good though!

Nice man. I like the start up grunge that the 2 chambers carry. Sounds pretty nice. I do prefer the deep tone of the MBRP more, but it still sounds good. Thanks for the GOOD QUALITY video of a Flowmaster 40 with hi-flow cats, been a long time expectation.

I too think I prefer the initial startup of the MBRP. The problem with it is as soon as it warms up it goes quieter (at least 25% quieter than the Flow) for some reason. The flow is much louder on WOT than the MBRP too which is another thing that I was shooting for.

All in all, I am happy I switched and that's really what it is all about. Total it cost me about $150 for the muffler, the SS tubing, and the labor for install. I really thought that it would carry more sound (similar to Mhockey) but I can't hear it. I wonder how much the 12" MBRP kit tips have to do with the sound?

Im thinking about getting mine put on, but worried about the drone on the hwy. my budy got his done today on his chevy z71, sounds good and on the highway its quiet, but thats prob because chevy shuts down to 4cylinders while cruising. Too bad ford hasnt done that yet.

i used to have an xlerator muffler, sounded great, no drone, could be a little louder though. My muffler shop still has both now for my new truck, trying to decide which to get. Dont want to hear the drone over my radio on the interstate, or have a conversation.

^ Get a Borla or a magnaflow... Flowmasters have a really bad resonant point. It is just luck to find out where exactly it will be.

I think il go back to the xlerator on my 2010. I loved my old one on my 01 just wanted it slightly louder, mechanic said the newer f150's are louder now with them so it should work out for me i think, he also said its usually compared to the magnaflow anyway...just got to decide on tips, thinking 4in stainless rolled straight out the back.

Thats because the MBRP, being a straight through muffler, low volume sound such as at idle, the sound is absorbed into the packing of the muffler. The Flowmaster does not contain any suck packing.

He has no cats so the heat and full forceful exhaust pulses are passed through directly to the muffler.
