The point of those straight piped cats is to visually fool inspection guys and cops if you were to get re-inspected, or a cop demanded to overview your exhaust system. Looks legal, thats the point.

And the shortys are useless, save up twice the amount of money and buy longtubes.

ive never had problems with the law.. MI is like the one state that has no emissions testing, nor do they really enforce the loudness of vehicles..

and yea i was thinking of the long tubes.. there is a guy on craigslist selling a par of shorty headers though for $175..hmmm

Well every area is different. The county I live in it isn't a real big deal, neither are the lift laws, but the neighboring county doesn't f around when it comes to such things.

And if that is a local craigslist listing, I do suggest you give them a thorough inspection before purchase as that price is really low.

$175 is cheap. If they look good, then get them on!

hey your in michigan! im in farmington hills. dont know how far you are from me but i can help you out with exhuast work. me and my buddys can do longtuebs on a 4.6/5.4 F-150 expy in 3-10 hours depending. we could give you a hand. never done a mustang if your askin about that. i kinda skimmed this thread.

175 for shrotys isnt bad but for another 130ish you can have 30 more HP and 35 more Ftlbs of TQ. built did a dyno to prove manifold vs shorties vs longtubes manifold and shories=same power longtubes added and plus they sound better

Also i got my longtubes for only 10-20 bucks more then my shorties and the longtubes gave me alot more power and a better sound. 289 @ the time i thinkt ehre 310bucks now. i could find the link if you want it.

Also we have the sniper tuner. a bullet is abotu 200 so for 240-250 we can custom tune your truck for you its a pretty neat system any time you have a prob or wanna change the tune its free of charge if you want to

sorry for this book always fun to see a fellow member from MI. lemme know.

also the "Down pipes" i took my cats off from the manifolt/shorty took them to a shop and said bend me pipes just like these are bent and he did for 80 bucks. worked good till i got longtubes.

here is my shorties with 2 1/2" down pipes no muffler dumped under the cab no Y-piep either true dual.
