jlt intake good or bad?
jlt intake good or bad?
im planing on installing a jlt intake. i have a 1997 f150 4.6l 4x4 which is pretty much stock. i put bigger tires on it and its sluggish now. im planing on putting a jet module on it as well. good or bad idea
Not the JLT. Its basically a cone filter on the MAF, its more meant for a ram air system. There isn't an induction tube.
One member on her had it and it works for him, but I wouldn't not be caught with it. S&B if anything.

the problem is it pulls alot of heat being right over the engine. your iat's rise especially if in traffic. just sucking hot air.
if you have a hood scoop it brings cool air which makes it ok. makes a nice ram-air set-up as your forcing air directly in the filter! i was looking at the same thing a while back and the price is right but not unless i get a new hood.

Don't bother. I have a 98.. 4.6.. 4x4 with roughly 130k I've had the Jet crap on there for roughly a year.. and maybe 15k. I had issues getting installed right. There is this film on the ECU that i had to get off real good. It kept killing the motor. Once I figured that out (probably my own ignorance) it seamed to raise the shift point which helps. No real performance increase per say. It felt like it because of the longer shifts. Also did the gotts mod, and removed the silencer in the intake elbow. I got a good deal ($15) on the Jet chip and since they are year specific i went for it. It's still in the truck and I've toyed with the idea of removing it but it's to far under the dash for my lazy --- to remove. Just do the gotts mod instead.
Don't even bother with the Jet chip. You would probably make more power if you dumped NOS energy drink down your gas tank than that thing. In all honesty, I don't even think I would mod a non PI 4.6 with that many miles.
