Header questions and suggestions!
Im looking to get some headers for my 06 supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4 and im a newb to this area. Anyways my truck currently has true dual straight pipes(Dumped/H-Pipe) with Magnaflow High Flow Cats. Just looking for some more power and i like the sound of headers! lol, anyways any suggestions will be appreciated and dont flame my newb *** please!! lol
You'll want headers only since you have cats already. $900 shipped should get you the Dynatech LTs with front O2 extensions, if you wanna go cheaper in price OBX makes stainless headers but not of the quality of the Dynatechs, but they'll last as long.
I have read lots of info on headers, and I also read great post about OBX & Pacesetter LT headers for the best price. I also have read to buy the stainless or the cermaic headers. So it depends on how much you want to spend. For the best quality you would need to spend $$ on dynatech, but you get what you pay for.

I have the ceramic coated pacesetters and have no complaints other than installing that darn passenger side, no rust yet even after scuffing them up pretty bad on the passenger side, no leaks, no warping, no cracked welds, but they have only been on since last spring. I am keeping a close eye on them for the previous mentioned issues as I had read these were some of the problems with pacesetters. I would suggest either pacesetter or the obx due to the reasonable price.
long tubes all the way!!! pacesetters are good but get the ceramic coated. dont go too cheap and get painted.
i would say the power increase is definitely noticeable! the torgue at the low end is very nice along with a strong mid-range.

I couldn't tell ya how much of an increase as I had 4.10s and my blower ported all around the same time, I think the improvement I was feeling was mostly due to the new gears.
Exhaust Manifold to Headers?
My passenger side exhaust manifold on my 2001 F-150 with the 5.4L is warped according to a couple different views. Should I go with a set of shorty headers or just order a new manifold, And would headers affect my fuel mileage of around 20mpg.
