CAI + Edge = Codes????

I have an edge programmer and was thinking about getting a roush CAI and I was talking with my buddy and he said that if I get a cold air it will set codes. Does anyone know if this is true with the roush intake?? Or if there is a different intake that wouldnt set codes??

If you have a 5.4 it is and its because they will run to lean the only way to run a CAI is to have custom tunes.

Look into upgrading your edge to a gryphon if you want to do the intake.

TBS are useless on these trucks. They make a good paper weight on these engines tho

I have a 2002 5.4L with an airaid intake. I also have the superchips tuner set to "performance" 91 octane tune.

My truck came with those items already installed when I bought it. I'm not sure they are worth the money really, but I kept them since they were already on the truck. I don't think I would have bought them if they weren't already on the truck. I saw that someone on her bought a spectre intake for $140. That looked like a good deal, and looked pretty sharp under the hood. You might check that one out or just try that "Gotts" mod trick.

as far as codes go. I don't ever throw a code with my airaid intake. If I did, my tuner can identify trouble codes and reset them if necessary.

good luck.

My advice brother, would be to do the DWV intake (you can pull it up with a quick search) and get custom tunes for your edge. I am awaiting my custom tune as PHP is out on a family emergency, but I can picture how much smoother they will be than our canned tunes. Plus, you get the full gain of the intake and other supporting mods like exhaust, pullies ect ect.

The TBS is a total waste for a fuel injected engine. Does nothing.

The 2004 and 2005 5.4s come from the factory in a near lean condition. Any extra air runs the risk of running lean and doing permanent damage to the engine. Not only that, you get only a small benefit with the extra air unless you have a custom tune. With a custom tune, you can get 12 or 13 hp increase.

The Edge canned tunes are for a stock intake.

$50, and $30 per custom tune. Custom tunes are CUSTOM taylored for YOUR truck, much much better than the basic stock tuned product enhancers

I don't recall, some where around $60 for the conversion and about $65 fo each custom tune. You may need only one, I run the 87Performance all the time. I kept the Edge canned level 2 for what little towing I do. Go to www.powerhungryperformance.com

They will write a tune to fit your truck and your mods exactly, not a one size fits all. It is worth the money.

$60 per tune? When did that happen?? Or is that for Edge to Gryphon conversions?

I don't know, I thought it had gone up. Either way, well worth it.
