Need help understanding laws.

I have a 2001 f150. I am thinking about putting hi-flows on in the future(when I get a job and money). I am reading the laws that are in place here in NC and I think, if I understand it right, that all they do is the OBD test. So does that mean I could pass with only 2 hi-flows and possibly a tuner or something? Any help on this and the emissions laws of NC is much appreciated.

Thanks,
JP

P.S. I live in Granville County which I think I saw listed as an emissions county.

You should pass. The only thing they may give you grief about is since your truck came stock with 4 and it only has 2, but it will past the sniffer.

A tuner would be a great addition but its not needed to pass the inspection as long as the high flow cats are installed.

haha. I wish NC was that way because I would have already done this. I hate all these laws like tint and emissions.

dude you can run whatever the hell you want. ive never ever had a guy inspectin my truck even question my exhaust. even when i had her straight piped. even if they do give you grief, so what? there is a place that will do inspections every half mile. an extra ten will "convince" most guys to let most anything slide on an inspection.

f150fella, I read that in the emissions county they only do the OBD port, so that would mean I would pass with the hiflows right?

You should pass. Where I live all they have is the OBD II test as well. I passed with hi flows of 2 different brands many times. I even had a fully blown out cat once and it still passed! Now I have the rear O2's turned off in my tune, and no rear O2's at all anymore after my new Catco hi flows. I guarantee it will pass again. I'm always nervous pulling into the bay with my loud exhaust and even louder screaming Procharger whine....the guys always give me funny looks LOL. But I always pass with flying colors.

As long as you have no check engine light/ DTC codes in your system, you should be good to go
