I know, I know, V6 Tacoma Exhaust recommendation needed for a buddy

Alright once my buddy heard the 22" maggie I have on the f150, he decided to make exhaust his next upgrade.. One Problem...He has a 04 V6 Tacoma..

I know no matter what muffler, or what size piping he puts on, its not gonna sound like a 5.4 V8, but what muffler/Piping size combo would give it the deepest rumble???

He wants dual tips at a 45 Btw

Im gonna end up ordering the muffler and tips for him, and we'll have our local exhaust shop bend the pipe and weld it on..

thanks in advance guys

on a V6 any cambered muffler would sound good, Like Flowmaster 40 or super 44. not sure what size pipe though.

i agree with the chambered muffler. i have a flowmaster on my ranger and it sounds pretty good. at high RPM's it will still sound like a V6, its imposible to avoid that but has an all around has a nicer, deep tone to it. as far as the toyota goes, find one of those large scrap hoppers that you can drive into, than park the toyota in it and go get a real truck! ha ha just kidding.....kind of

Keep the chambered mufflers on V6s, straight throughs will only make it sound like a rice burner.

?? No...., 8.1L! As much of a joke as the Tacoma is, its light, could get 15mpg with the 8.1

i say a magna flow muffler would sound great on it. 2.5" is the biggest id go on pipe size.

^ heck no dude.
Maggies would sound horrible on that truck. I had a 97 Tacoma in college and I had the Super 44 put on with duel 2.25 pipe with 4in tips 45'd for a little more rumble.
However, my friend who had the same truck went with a Super 40 and I have to say I liked it more. Its the same loudness of the org 40 just deeper which is what you need on that rice burner.
Single in (2.5) Dual out (2.25) Flowmaster (org 40, super 40, or super 44)with a 3.5 or 4inch tips 45'd would sound great...
Stay away from Maggies, thrush, or cherry bomb

Chambered mufflers are the only thing to put on V6's, even though it pains me to recommend them.

Ok, Im not sure what size his OEM piping is, and this might be a stupid question, but should he do a si/do muffler? or a si/so muffler and a Y-pipe?

Whichever one it is, what sizes inlet and outlet would it be?
