I bought a kit for my truck and installed myself and it fit perfect. I used the clamps since I don't have a welder. Took about 45 minutes.

That seems to be a very nice kit and I bet it'll fit great. Let us know how the installation goes........

Definetly interested in how it goes. I was looking at just picking up a flaowmaster 40 and having it installed, total price was about $160.

Well, the big selling point for me was that I could buy this kit and stick it on myself and save $150 vs having my local guy do it. If something comes up and I have to have a garage install, I really wont save any money. But in your case, I would definately put out the extra bills and get this kit. You dont HAVE to get the mandrel kit, you can get the regular kit and save a few more $'s.

I am humbled! I just tried to put it on myself, not happening! The kit is a VERY nice kit and I dont regret buying it. I just am out of my league when it comes to hanging it at the right height and lining everything up straight. I finally got frustrated and took it all out and am going to the shop in the morning. But on the positive side, I already have the stock system out, and the new kit is more or less just ready to hang.

It comes with two piece tailpipes, and I am going to have them 45 them at the rear instead of straight out.

What was the problem with installing it? looked like a decent deal if you could do the install yourself.

It was not a problem with the kit at all. It was a problem with me not having the time and patients it would take for ME to do it. I have NEVER done an exhaust before, NEVER. Not even a stock replacement. I just couldnt get things to hold together and line up without pulling something else apart while trying to get it all to hang under the truck. I am taking to a local guy whos shop is actually right behind my house, and he is gonna throw it together. I also am having him 45 the tips out the corners. Charging me $80.

I think I'm going to get one of the kits In the summer once I get some more money saved up. I was thinking of getting a different muffler and selling the one the comes with the kit, which number did you order?

You have your choice of a lot of different mufflers that you can get with the kit.

Just noticed those pipes are not stainless (partly explains the price).
Hope it holds up in PA winters.

And - at least you chose the correct muffler - only good one in his whole inventory

$80 to install is a good deal

Yeah, its aluminized. I have always used aluminized and never had any issues. It will most certainly last til I trade for a newer one. I trade every couple of years.

ROFL, I just bought it. I buy used and trade every couple years. I bought a brand new truck once. It depreciated so fast that I found it a complete waste of money to buy new. Unless I intend to keep it til paid off.
