Cat back straight pipes on 06 150 5.4l

My SIDO flowmaster kit recently rotted out pretty bad and luckily I'm covered under warranty so I will be getting a check and I was thinking about going with a custom true dual exhaust. After going over some idea's, getting a couple qoutes and watching a few youtube videos I think I want to go with straight pipes after the cats. Anyone have experience with this set up? Anyone see any possible problems or know of any state issues with no mufflers (I live in Maine)?

Thanks,
Bob

Well I guess I just answered one of my questions by calling a inspection station. The truck has to have mufflers and glass packs will not pass as a replacement for the muffler. OK, so how about this question and a possible can o' worms; as I said I currently have the flowmaster american thunder kit, what can put on there that will be louder and still follow state rules? I don't have a lot of money but with the ~$400 back from flowmaster and possibly a little more out of pocket what can I do?

Dual Flowmaster 10 series with H or X pipe, and a set of maggi hi flow cats, and don't forget 3.5"-4" stainless tips ran straight out the back or 45ed!

Dynomax Bullet. Much deeper, and louder than those tin can 10s.

It IS a muffler. So he can just take proof in that it is a muffler, does that mean the Banks muffler in their kit ( 5" round ) is a glasspack? Does that mean the round body Magnaflows are glasspacks? No, They are mufflers, not cheaply made glasspacks, so they should pass. 50 state legal.

^ but a bullet is almost exactly the same as a glass pack on the out side. A 5" round muffler is nothing close to a bullet or a glass pack. He will just have to call and find out I guess.

Yes but inside is the exact same, the Bullet just isn't packed as tightly inside. And it has a 4" round case, so it has to pass. Its the loudest muffler to get, so since he wanted straights originally it will gain him the similar volume with a cleaner tone.
