Headers or refurbish manifold replace

Have broken bolts in head and right side manifold is warped and leaking. Are the new manifold replacement better than originals or headers replacement the way to go? And are the bolts that are broken hard to get ourt of the head?

Headers: Don't go through all that trouble and come out with no performance, sound or eye candy. Long tubes would be the best bet.

Broken stud bolts are not a fun task. It will be a difficult job. If you are not interested in a Longtube header kit a shorty header replacement would be better than refurbishing OEM manifolds for a real small sound and low end torque increase. Barely noticeable but it is there.

Shorties might actually end up being cheaper than new manifolds.

I went with Summit Racing shorty headers as a manifold replacement, but long tubes is the way to go if you want an increase in power. If you end up getting long tubes, you'll definitely want to figure in the cost of a programmer if you don't have one already, to compliment the headers. A programmer is not really necessary for short tube headers.

Whichever way you go, you'll need alot of patience. As for removing broken studs, I was lucky and had enough stud sticking out to grab them with vise grips. Just soak them with PB Blaster and tap the end of the stud with a hammer while trying to break it loose.
