header question

just installed headers on my 97 f-150 4x4 4.6
i have a k and n intake . borla exhaust and a jet chip.

the headers are shortys( flame me if ya want) got them for my b-day (free)
so i put them on and they are every bit of a p.i.t.a. i have heard about! i got better throttle resopnse , easier shifting. feels like i gained a lil take off power but seems like i lost my rolling throttle( going 10 15 mph and givin'er)

i love the sound and what it did in other areas but it seems like i have power loss. before my truck would kick back and let'er rip. now it does it smoothly. maybe just me? maybe leaking at the head / header, colector? something else? just wondering if its normal? seems like i can hear ticking when it starts up as well. runnin 10-30 royal purple. was runnin 15-40 and the ticking went away. but with these cold winters here in michigan i dont want dry starts .

HELP?

i did a tune up on it about 4 months ago, just changed the oil , just changed the tranny fluid and filter . it doesnt sound like they are leaking when it idles . it sounds a little like ticking? but when i am doing 50 + mph it sounds like i hear a leak from inside the cab.and running at 65 to 70 mph going up the slighest hill it will kick down to passing gear. like it really doesnt know what gear it wants to be in. before i put the headers on my manifolds had two snapped bolts on each side . that was a pretty nasty leak. as far as gas i go to the same place every time and i run 93. as far as resetting the computer i had the battery disconnected because of the starter on the passenger side. yeah that was a nice little jolt!
i just came back from ohio today and 10 miles from my house the check engine light came on,e brake and abs light came on. so i guess i will get that read and see whats up. talk about a grenade effect!

sorry that the paragraph is so ramdom. oh and jbrew i knew i was gunna get someone talking smack so its all good!
