Howdy guys, i have 4 inch tips right now, and a broken hanger, the tips are not the stainless steel ones, so i stopped by the exhaust shop and he has some 3.5 inch stainless steel tips for 40 a piece, he gave me a total price of 106 plus tax this includes 2 stainless steel tips and 2 new hangers and labor. Is this a good price for everything?

Sounds quite fair, Usually a shop will want $30 just in labor to put on tips, so without the3 hangers that would be $110.

that's not bad at all. Do the 3.5" tips sound any different than the 4"?

 

well got em done and i like the out come the 3.5 inch tips look so much better than the 4 inch, plus no more rust

I only drove it about 3 miles from the shop to work so cant tell for sure seems about the same, will let yall know when i head to the house this evening

 

Barely. They wont be noticeable. If anything just lightly more hollow.

Yeah just cosmetic, if he was comparing 3" to 4" maybe a little bit of a noticeable difference.

 

The 1/2" diameter difference is only gonna change cosmetically. I had 2.5" true duals on my truck with 4"x18" tip's and ran the same setup with 3"x18" tip's and that's when I noticed a sound change. The 3" tip's would have a deeper tone at idle compared to the 4" but the 3" would get raspier at higher rpm's than the 4". Sorry for the hi jack.

drove about 50 miles tonite and sounds to me its a bit louder while idleing and also under acceleration overall very happy
