You'll regret it. Your truck will smell like a 70's muscle car anytime you idle. At the drive thru, you will stink the folks out! And it will be noisier. Might want to swap out some aftermarket ones.

And, you will have a performance loss if you gut cats because the open cat section will interupt your velocity. Replace your cats with pipe if you must run the no cat setup, or have them cut open and pipe bent to run through them, re-weld and re-install heat shields and no one will ever visually know.

But for the sake of everyone's oxygen, just change to hi-flow cats. Just as noisey as no cats, and 49 states legal.

i wanna kno more about this if you don't mind? I've always wondered. When you get these new high flow cats on, does your o2 sensors make your engline light come on? Do you get the o2 bypass, do you need to get a tune ffor the truck, or do the aftermarket cats not make your engine light come on? I heard somewhere that the aftermarket cats make the engine run like crap?
Thanks

I have no cats and a tuner deleted my secondary o2 sensors out of the equation.

If you decide to run no cats, then you will get a Check engine light. A set of mil eliminators will do the trick. I got mine off ebay for ~$5. They have been working for 150,000+ miles.

Or you can build your own. http://atomicinternet.homeip.net/tea...asp?RecordID=8

Thanks for the replies guys!
I have a ton of stuff i wanna do to my 97. I just don't wanna get a tune on it until i've got it just the way i want it. I was gonna do exhaust and tuner last to get everything running perfect. I really just wanna just get a tuner that will delete the o2 sensors so my CEL won't come on. Anyone kno of a tuner that will give me what i want for a 1997?

Those mil eliminators will delete them for you no matter what tune you have. And it will pass emmissions.

Only use MIL eliminators in place of your rear O2 sensors. Your fronts are still needed for Air:Fuel ratio measurements.

first put on your ventalator, gas mask, etc.

hack them off. get a heat gun and heat those suckers up real hot. then dump ice cold water on them to break everything up. then ram all the **** out of them.

A piece of pipe in place of them would really be a lot better...
