Throttle body oily

I pulled my intake off to clean the maf and while it was off I tried to clean what I could of the throttle body without actually removing it. I pulled the throttle cable to open it up and the back of the plate along with the throttle body where covered in a layer of dark almost burnt looking oil/carbon mixture. It wiped away to a clean surface easily even with no cleaner. Is this normal at all or do I have a big problem? Its a 5.4 with 80,000 miles bought at 50k, have never cleaned the throttle body before. I pulled the PCV to check that and it seemed perfectly fine.

it's a normal thing, but it won't hurt to clean your TB

I just bought a Volant cool air intake and want to get a throttle body spacer to go with it. I've been looking around to see what there prices are and what they do. I was just wondering what you had to say about brands and which one is the best.

The TB spacer won't help anything.
So don't buy one.
