derick- if you wouldnt mind to chime in what are the part #s and prices for the manaflow high flow cats and the manaflow x pipe?

avrfrog- thanks for all your input you have been very helpful. i would like to do this true dual setup but a rough look at the cats and x pipe and mufflers were almost $100 each on average so i was looking at about $500 for parts and then the tips figure another $60-75 then all thee labor and the shop fabbing up the piping for it. i would do 2.5" does this sound about right for parts? i want planning on spending this much. how much did you spend on your true dual setup and derick how much did you spend? if its ~800 or more i will have to pass on the true dual setup for now and just get 3" si 2.5" do muffler and just get the fabbed up duals out the back with tips. thats about $500 cheaper then $800 so it would work better financially right now. well lmk thanks again

i got on performance peddler and it seems like i can get the super 44 muffler non stainless for $64 which is the cheapest i have found it. they dont have the stainless one though but the cheapest i foudn that one is $96. i might get the non stainless one for now. I have thought about it and i think im going to hold off on the true duals. i calculated all the parts with 2 high flow cats, 2 mufflers, and x pipe alone will be close to $400 in parts not counting the labor and piping and tips to have it all welded on. i really wasn't planning on spending that much right now. So i think im going to stick with the super 44 si/do duals out setup with nice stiainless tips. i have looked at performance peddler and the muffler that i like from magnaflow is like $135. its the 14588 part number polished stainless magnaflow 5x11" 22" long muffler si/do 3" 2.5" siz. but that is over double the cost of the super 44 muffler is. what do you guys thing between the two? lmk asap thanks

I do not know if AVfrog meant Derek as in Darren, which is my name, clearly as my ID says But I am a catalytic converter wizard. Magnaflow 94106 cats are a great replacement choice. They will produce a near catless sound without the horrible rasp, and do it legally. They average at $67 each, you can try a flat $100 shipped offer to performance peddler, only guy scored two for $70 but he had also bought a muffler at their full asking price. Stainless Super 44s part numbers begin with 8, aluminized begin with 9. I have not contacted Flowmaster in awhile to verify if they had the stainless steel SI/DO Super 44s in creation yet. The last time I contacted them ( March ) they stated that they were planning to have a large order assembled in late April but I have yet to see any released yet. So they are still only in SI/SO unless you want to call and find a part #, but try avoiding buying through them unless you absolutely need the t-409 stainless because they will charge you near $145 for the muffler shipped.

If you are only going to grab the muffler, and some tips, the muffler you will need is part 9430452, that should be the 3" single in 2.5" dual outlet muffler.

thanks for the part #s. I got an update. I called the exhaust guy and he said that with buying a 40 series muffler from him it would be $275 with labor muffler, and chrome tips. he can mandrel bend them at his shop. he has the machine to do it but he has the galvanized steel piping. he said the stainless would be twice as much. But anyway i asked him individual prices.

basically:

muffler, labor, piping, chrome tips- $275
i buy my own muffler and bring it to him, labor, piping, chrome tips- $200
i bring my muffler and tips (cause i want stainless instead) labor, piping-$175

what do you think about those prices? this is the only place i have talked to so far but most tire/exhaust shops around here dont do aftermarket/custom stuff, they can probably replace the muffler but not mandrel bend piping and fabricate me duals around the spare tire to get the duals out. so is this a good price for what i would be gteting? theres a few custom shops around here that i can call that are about 30 miles away but i have a feeling they are going to be a lot more $$.

I have decided though for right now to stick with just the si/do muffler. im either going to get the flowmaster super 44 or the magnaflow 12588 or 14588 part #s 5x11" mufflers 12588 is stainless, 14588 is polished stianless. the cheapest i can find the polished one is $135 through performance peddler. they might be cheaper if i can offer them a rpice though? i was thinking $100 or so would be great. what do you guys think about the sound difference between these two. i know the flow will be much more raspier but i like the way the flow sounds on this motor. i can deal with a little raspiness but i dont want a ton of it. I want it loud and real deep and have a nice smooth deep idle tone to it. i know magnaflow is good and deep just not super loud unless you really get on it WOT or so. I have magnaflow catback on my lt1 camaro and i love the sound of it. the deepness is very sweet and smooth. but with my truck i want something a little different but not really 100% raspy. well lmk what you guys think on this pricing and see if its a good deal. I also would like some advice on tips. should i go with the magnaflows? i like the polish stainless ones with like angled cut tips 18" or 12" maybe? they are pretty expensive i wasnt really wanting to spend a lot on the tips and i was even considering throwing in the $25 more to this exhaust guy just to get his basic chrome tips. thats not a bad price just for some tips. i dont know which ones they are though. i really want the ss tips but dont want to fork out $100 or so for them. what do you guys think. lmk asap thanks again guys.

i just checked on magnaflow's website again http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/u...asp?shape=oval and i think the muffler i chose was too big. i found teh 5x8" ovals and its only 14" body which is shorter than 22" body part #s
12198 14221 polished one. $116.92 from perf peddler before offer. maybe i could get that one for like $80 or so. well what do you guys thinki. i cant get the 11" body like darren has because on their website they dont have a si/do muffler. just si/so ones.

If you run dual tips straight out the rear, 12" would look good, 18" would look best but you should pre-measure to see if they would fit. There is a huge difference between the Super 44, and 22" Magnaflow, the 22" Mag will be hardly different, and Super 44 would be much louder. Maybe look into the 14" 12198 Magnaflow.

Magnaflow will be 15% quieter under throttle, but cleaner sounding, 40% quieter at idle. $200 - $300 installed sounds fair.

thanks for the info. i think im going to choose teh super 44 for now and see how it does. i can get the non stainless from perf peddler for $64 and the mag is like $86 so its a little cheaper and i want a nice deep rumble for an idle. now i cant decide if i want to just get 2 mufflers and have him fab something up for true duals or not. he said it would be the same price for labor. if i did do the true dual setup i would just keep all 4 cats instead of getting 2 high flow magnaflow cats. it would save me some money and do i have to have him fab up an h pipe or an x pipe? which one is better again? i think avrfrog said that x would be raspier i dont want it to be more raspier, least amount as possible because with flowmaster i know i will have some raspiness. does he have to fab h or x pipe up or can i just run them separate without ever connecting both exhaust flows? or do i have to buy the magnaflow tru x pipe?
