F150 exhaust help please

Im new to the site and I would appreciate some help from you guys. Ive got a 2001 red f-150 xlt ext. cab with the 5.4 v8. I would like some exhaust suggestions. I want it pretty loud, deep tone, with minimal popping. Also I wouldnt like to spend a whole lot of money, maybe say up to $400. Oh and I live in NC so it needs to pass inspection. Thanks!

first, welcome to the site!!!!

dynomax bullet. or even a flowmaster super 44 or a cherrybomb single chamber

are you wanting to run tips? if so how?

400 puts you in a tight spot seeing as these 97-05 have 4 converters that take away alot of sound, and to free up that you would need to remove/replace them. i replaced mine on my 2002 with mangaflow high flow converters.

Replace your muffler with a Dynomax Bullet, and put a 3.5"x18" tip on your OEM tailpipe, $150 or so total and sounding good & loud & deep.

Thanks f150fella08!

Ill have to reseach the bullet, would I still pass emisions and would you do single or dual? Also side or out the back?

And I had thought about straight pipes out of cats no muffler duals out the rear with resonator tips. How would that sound? Any problems passing emisions with that?
Thanks for all the help guys.

passing emissions? no. but the inspection in general, no mufflers would fail.

i dont think they make a dual outlet bullet, i would get a 18" glasspack with dual outlets and do them 45'd out the back with 3.5" or 4" tips 18" long.

heres how my tips are ran, they are 3.5"x18" chome slash cut

Ok thanks. I just got the truck about 2 weeks ago and the guy that had it before me had dual exhaust but took it off beacuse it was "too loud" (lol) when he moved and now as it sits it has stock up untill the tip so ill have to check and see what size the tip is.

So how loud is the bullet and does anyone have them and have a video?

Also what about the system I had thought about?(in the above reply)

The one with no mufflers because I had been told that if I had resonator tips that it would be legal. Is this true?

dual bullets would sound alot better, with an H pipe. most exhaust shops can make their own H pipe for about 20 bucks extra, thats what he did to my duals.

onlything is duals are alot more expensive. i would call shops and ask their prices.

Thanks alot! I cant find prices for the bullets? how much are they? And I think for now Im gonna see what my tip is and either buy a new one(mine now exits 45 out the passenger side, its stock) and buy the bullet and have it put on buy a local shop. They are weld on right?
Later I might go to duals if I save up money...either that or lift and tires...haha

id go with this one if your gonna do duals later, put this one on now, then buy another one later and just use this one again http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...-1&showValue=1

search ebay for some used ones maybe if your on a tight budget, or craigslist
