Advice needed, help please!!!

2006 F150 XLT SCAB 5.4 V-8, 3.73 Axle

Okay... So I am putting on the AS 2.5" LK, with 4 Toyo MT [285/75/17] on stock rims this weekend. I am also going to do a true dual setup with stock cats (for now). After, I will be bolting on a K&N FIPK and getting a tuner (probably PHP). What I am seeking advice for is:

-Pipe diameter
-Original 40/ Super 40 / Super 44 (Seeking loudest and deepest sound)
-Where to mount mufflers

Thanks ahead of time!!!

-Mick

My pipes are 2 1/4 I think with 3" tips, 18 inches long. The Original 40 is the deeper, louder of the three. I like the sound. Mine is mounted in place of the stock muffler.

Keep it SI/DO.

3" from the Y pipe to a 3" inlet Super 44 ( best sounding muffler of the 3 in my opinion, its real deep toned, and the same case specs as the original 40 give a good high RPM bark ) and 2.5" dual tailpipes with 3.5" tips will megaphone it well.

Original 40!!! It is deeper than all you have listed, and it does sound the best in my opinion. I went from H pipe to X pipe too. My set up had a bad "crack" sound in it with H pipe. I added the magnaflow x and I love it!

Original 40s & Super 44s are in the same class to me. They both sound fairly nice, I like the 44 better though.

44 will be more raspy sounding. It's all about your preference. Youtube is amazing for these decisions!

Every vehicle I have heard in person with the Super 44 sounded good, even on the horrible 4.0L V6. With the added tubing length of trucks they sound great, but I do not like the Super 44s in Mustangs, the Original 40s dont sound half bad on them but the 44s aren't too good.

They now call the Original 40 the Standard 40 since it went out of production for 2yrs so if anyone cant find a true Flowmaster original 40 brand new, try Standard 40.

Incorrect... They have both on there website. The standard 40 and I quote

" These are duplications Ray Fluggers original square "Suitcase" mufflers that started it all. Built in a limited quantity of 1000 units, each is signed and numbered by Ray himself. Hand crafted and formed with the original tooling that was found in storage after 25 years. Unlike the originals however, these units are constructed with 409S stainless steel to last a lifetime. This is a special opportunity to own a piece of history. The square case with its wider profile produces an extra deep tone that many will recall as being" "Like the ones I had when I was a kid"

Two different mufflers, both currently in production.
