No Cats Question

I have a 1998 F150 with the 5.4L and I was thinkin bout cuttin out my cats. I have a exhaust cutout after the cats and i wanted to see if anyone could tell me if it is gonna sound like **** or if it will sound decent. Also i can cap off the cutout and behind that i have a single inlet dual outlet flowmaster super 44 muffler if that may sound better than the cutout open. if anybody has some input on this let me know. thanks

My input...
Get rid of that cut out! Remove cats and run straight into that 44 and enjoy!!!

That cut out will be horrible with out cats...

hi-flow cats ftw. I also like to be able to leave my air on when i'm driving through town instead of needing to turn it off when stuck behind some dip with no cats.

Would replacing your stock cats with high flow ones interfere with emissions? What would be the benefits (or eveb lack of) with doing a swap? I've never 'heard' the difference for myself, but if I can get my Flowmaster 40 to sound even meaner without any loss in power or interference to emissions, then it will have to be my next mod!

Go with the highflow aftermarkets.
Save yourself a headache down the road.

Hi-flow cats filter & operate just as OEMs do, except with a small improvment of flow, and way less sound resonation.

They also don't do as good of a job! Your emissions are NOT as good as stock cats. Hi-flows are bare minimum reduction in emissions. I read an article on that a while back.

If the man doesn't want cats, then he won't have cats...

And if the man wants to break the law he is going to break the law. Cats are federally mandated in all 50 states for street driven vehicles. Go with high flows and stay legal and cleaner than no cats.

Personally I'd never operate a vehicle that could get me a ticket. I'm broke and don't want to try affording tickets. But I also want my truck to pass smog for registration, lol. If high flow cats will work then I will give them a shot but I'll never go no cats. I kinda like oxygen. It smells good.

who cares about pollution, when talking about this. no cats sounds like trash, period. High flows in place of your 4 or 2 OEM cats is the only way to go when wanting the most sound. The End
