Ok, I have a 99 f150 5.4L 4x4. I am looking into a Flowmaster super 40 or 44 si/do. I like the deep rumble sound. also at this time if found 2 broken studs for my manifold so what I was thinking was a pair of Pacesetter LT headers. Also what about eliminating the rear cats I dont want Kackle from the truck that sound is for my Harley.
What I am looking for in responce is ya all's opinion on the mufflers? What about the Pacesetters, do they last, built well? What about eliminating the rear cats. will I tun into any problems with that?
PS I live in Illinois just to let you know what type of weather I will be putting up with. I also have a can tuner (superchips)
thanks-

If you dont want a crackle, you shouldn't go with LTs and Flowmasters, but if you X pipe it the X will eliminate crackle except at wide open revs.
as for weather, I wouldn't bother with Flowmasters unless you buy the t-409 stainless models, they're available in 50 series, 40 series delta, and Super 44. I would also go with the long lasting Dynatechs but most people report decent life from the Pacesetters.
Definitely wont be running your front cats with the LTs, the LTs collectors are too long. Go with a set of Magnaflow 94106 or 94136 cats.

They are deep, just not as deep as the mufflers listed by Mig. Flowmasters big open chambers give a deep hollow grunt where as the other 3 mufflers are rockwool packed, and ceramic inside which absorb drone sound and give a deep rich & clear sound.
Even my magnapacks are deeper than my old 40 series with a much cleaner tone and sound.
I vote for the long tubes an H-pipe and the flowmaster 44's, listen to euferin's truck it sounds real mean

well here are some sound clips. They don't really sound very good on a computer but what they hey.
the first two are headers with resonators to they Y. Basically the kit OBX sends.
headers with resonators1
headers with resonators 2
on the last 2 I just slid one of the super 44's over the Y pipe.
above with one super 44 1

Here they are. For now the clips are just like the ones posted before.
I'll try to get some fly by's and acceleration vids later in the week.
I may be going to the dyno tomorrow, if so, I'll video tape that.
obx headers, highflow cats, true dual super 44's video 1
same as above video 2

Ha ha. Here's a video uploaded to photobucket. It scrunched it up cause my camcorder films in wide screen hi def. but you get the idea. I'll upload it to youtube later. This was the 220hp pull. He did the runs in 3rd but on this one it downshifts to 2nd when he gunned it. You can see how hard the thing shifts between 2-3. I thought the bed was gonna fall off!
