Selling Cats

No im not talking about kitty cats, im talking catalytic converters. Who here has sold their old cats? Im replacing both of my pre cats with 2 high flows, and want to know how much i can get for them. Who do you sell them to? How much are you getting? I have heard people saying they are getting $150 on here for their old cats, so my question is: Why are these salvage yards paying double the price for a 10 yr old cat, when a new one is only $70. Do the old cats have more platinum in them making them worth more?

Well your pre-cats aren't the real value holding cats, but there is a little rhodium in them which will make them a value to scrap, I would say anywhere from $50 - $100 for both scrapped.

hmm, I went to the scrap yard with my two cats from my 05' this summer, they set em on the scale and said $20.00 for both. They are both back in a corner in the garage...

Depends on the price of the precious metals market. When I sold mine to a metal recycler in '07 I got $200 for precats+cats, new hiflows only cost $160. Also the newer vehicles don't have as much precious metals as those on older ones hence the lower value.
