Just ordered my new Magnaflow!

I just ordered a new round 14" Magnaflow muffler on Friday, it will be here tomorrow!! I am excited to replace my 50 series flowmaster. I had this flowmaster on my Dodge, and did not like how it sounded, so I thought I would try it on my F150 and I still dislike the tone and sound. I think I am just getting sick of hearing the same ol' flowmaster sound that I have heard on my el camino, my three mustangs, my dodge, and now my F150. It is time to try something new, so Magnaflow was my choice.

Now I have a question. Should I run this set-up out in front of the rear tire, or into the stock location? I am tempted to just run it out in front of the rear tire with a black powdercoated tip (if I can find one) because I think that would look good. Input? Opinions??

Another question is, where can I find a black exhaust tip? Every time I look for one all I can find is chrome, I hate chrome! Thanks!!!

Did u order a 3"? Out the side will be louder but more drone. Out the back at a 45 degree will look and sound good with minimal drone. I know rbp sells black tips, but there a nice penny. Most guys on here paint them themselves, I don't know. Your going 3" all the way through correct?

Yes, the exhaust is already 3", kind of forgot about upgrading from 2.5" because that was years ago. I am thinking about going out at a 45* angle in front of the rear tire, that should sound good. The Flowmaster is dumped before the axle right now, so I hope that this will sound better, and the tip will add a nice little appearance upgrade to the truck. I will probably end up painting the tip with spray on bed liner stuff. I think that would look cool.

ya out the side at a 45 will look and sound good. i would put at least 1 3.5" x 12" tip on there, for appearance and some sound.

Cool.

How well can you handle interior exhaust noise? It will be quite loud before tire, after tire will be more calmer sounding inside.

Well my roomate has a Titan with a Magnaflow exhaust exiting in front of the rear tire, and I really like how it sounds in and out. So that's what I am basing my system off of. I am a young guy so exhaust noise doesn't bother me. Hell my mustang has a built 347 with no cats and flows and it's pretty loud. I drove that as my DD for a while.

I painted my tips black so I went with tips straight out the back. My original exhaust was dual flows and the tips were 45d. I had to repaint them twice. It was so much harder to keep them clean and keep them from fading when they were behind the tire like that. So much crap got slung on them.

Just something to think about.

Good choice on the Magnapack. I would have it exit right in front of the rear tire. What's the inlet/outlet size on the muffler?

He stated his exhaust is already 3" so I would assume that.

Yep, it's a 3" in and out. It will exit in front of the rear tire, so I am not worried about stuff getting flung onto it, unless I'm doing a lot of driving in reverse.

Great on job on the switch, I bought a Magnaflow 14" few months ago to replace my stock muffler.
Is yours the bullet or oval shape muffler?
I went with the Magnaflow Round Muffler 14" and it sounds awesome.
It's hardly noticeable when the car is idle, but once you get on the pedal it roars.
I also noticed a gain in HP, but loss some torque.

Hopefully he didn't just buy the first one he saw. Hate for there to be a bottle neck in his exhaust.
