I love the sound on this exhaust and have been debating on putting it on my truck. He emailed me and said its 3" off of the stock Y and then goes into another Y to 4" duals. I think it sounds great and if you look at his other vids he does a burnout and seems like he has plenty of low end. heres the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1zGUdRNxmo

burn outs dont really use low end power, more of high end since its around 4000rpm..

I know that keeping the temps in gets things flowing faster and I will be thermo wrapping it from the y back and maybe even up to the cats. Should I just go 3"? Keep in mind that i have 4.88's and the my truck is hardly ever below 2k rpm and mostly highway driven at above 2500 rpm.
im not to sure on the exhaust but how many gallons to the mile do you get with the 4.88's and that small of tire?

Funny that you mention that because i get the same damn gas mileage as i did when I had 38x15.5's on it..........just under 13mpg most of the time. Sometimes in the high 11's if I'm pissed off or feeling frisky.

Ok my next question then is.......

Should I just stick with my single 2 1/2" from the y back and Dynomax bullet and just use the money to replace the cats and possible add headers or should I upgrade to a 3"? Will the upgrade net me anything notable or am I just wasting money? I figure that the 3" upgrade will run me in the $200-$300 range and I can for sure do the cats for under that

Just got back from the local shop this afternoon with a new single exhaust setup. Had a Magnaflow # 12259 { 18" long body ,single 3" in/ out } muffler and one 3" head pipe { from the end of the Y pipe to the muffler } and a single 3" mandrel bent tailpipe with stainless tip all welded up & installed and coming out just behind the R/R wheel . Sound is perfect with a nice low rumble { but not obnoxious rap or drone } at speed and under throttle, and at idle it can hardly be heard. Looks cool & seat of the pants dyno feels maybe just a tick better than stock { but that could be my imagination as well ? } Improved gas mileage....the jury is still out and the truck itself has only 400 miles on it anyway ? Really was after the classic " dual exhaust look " but after seeing the mess of tubes, hoses & lines on top of the left side of the differential and the large pain in the --- it would be, plus a lot more $$$ , I opted for the 3" single setup. Much easier install and fits like a glove, sounds great, looks good and a lot cheaper I would seriously doubt anyone could tell the difference { sound wise } over a dual system. I'm a happy camper......

HAHAHA I'm not saying anything about being able to afford it....I could do a lot more if I really wanted to but the dilema is do I want to. After spending all the $$$$ I have on the ever changing look and suspension of my truck, I'm growing tired of wasting money and want to spend it more wisely. If I won't see much difference with the 3" over the 2 1/2" then I don't feel like doing it. I'd rather save my money to start building my bike.

Do you have the 3" connected off of the stock 2 1/2" y or do you have a custom 3" y? I was looking at my Summit catalog earlier and came across a Flowmaster dual 2 1/2" to single 3" y that would work great for you I think or anybody who is running a 3" single. I don't see much point in running a bigger exhaust if it still has to travel through that stock 2 /2" y.

Better scavaging & flow into the 3" intermediate pipe & muffler.... resulting in better low end torque ?

stick with the stock2.5 single no muffler i ran that along with a buddy of mine we both loved it sounds great not too loud and gained quite a bit of power.

i now run 3" but thats because i have longtubes with a 3" collector and a straight through muffler to add some back preasure, im going to add a 2.5" down pipe to add some more preasure

see if this guy will respond to your questions about 4 inches, he has what appears to be a single 4 inch but I do believe its supercharged. He might be able to advise on how well his setup performs or hurts his performance.

here is his youtube link...

Upgrade to a y" outlet Y pipe, 3" midpipe and a 3" muffler. The stock Y pipe restricts a bit since its dual 2.5" in & single 2.5" out.
