Flowmaster or knock off?

Which one should I get? There is a company on Ebay selling cat-back duals for the 04-08 F-150. One has a Flowmaster muffler and one has a Flowmaster looking muffler. There is a $30 difference between the 2.

I wouldn't buy either of them.

It would be cheaper to go to your local exhuast shop and price around. The Super 44 work great and sound great. They are like $64 each with discount code. www.performance-curve.com

I wouldn't touch any "catback" system or flowmaster product. Listen to some trucks, find out what you like. Buy the muffler, tell a shop what you want them to do with it. Much cheaper and you get what You want, not what Flowmaster thinks they will sell the most of.

Go with the Flowmaster, just get the muffler then take it to a exhaust shop and have em put it on for ya, its a lot cheaper also. Dont listen to these magnaflow guys, they ditch flowmaster as much as the can for no reason, Go with the Super 44

I agree about getting one and bringing it to a shop...

BTW the only guy who posted ahead of you with a magnaflow was punisher... it gets old after a while hearing people complain about magnaflow... I have one and do not dis flowmaster. Let's end this crap... so old after a while. I'm sick of that petty baby comment from people. Ignore it and don't respond if they make a crack at flowmaster.

broaderperformance.com/muffler_flow_tests.htm (Independently tested cfm flows of the more popular mufflers, glasspacks and resonators. I agree, go to a local shop, have them hold up different mufflers to your truck, see how each sounds and pick the one you like.

If you want one of them chambered wonders, buy the muffler, have a shop do it. Ebay cat-backs are crimp bent, with no warranty, and if it doesn't fit your stuck with it.

They also have a Magnaflow cat back system for $24 more. I know that the pipes are cremp bent but for under $300 it is going to be hard to get something real good.

Wont be hard to get something good under $300 if you buy the muffler you want and have it done.

That begs the question, what exactly do you want? Might help people know how to guide you.

There are some knock off things I would buy. Lets see. Sugar. Yes, I would buy knock off Sugar. I mean, its pretty much sugar, right? Mufflers? No. Unless everytime I stepped on the gas I wanted people to hear my truck scream CCCCHHHEEEAAAPPP... as I drove off.

Spend the coin. I imagine you will be happier in the long run.

BS.

My system: Dynomax Bullet $40, 5' of 3" Stainless $50, and install was $50-75, don't remember for sure. I'd put money on my setup performing better and sounding better than nearly any catback you can buy from a catalog.

What, me? I don't consider Dynomax a knockoff muffler. Some random unlabled eBay muffler? Yes that is a knock off muffler. I never said you had to spend money to sound good. I said I would spend the extra coin and get a muffler I knew something about, being directed at the OP asking about a brand name, and one that looked like a brand name.

unless you literally live in the boonies, 5 ft of 3" SS is not 50 bucks. its double that. but anyway. $300-400 gets a real nice custom made system. cat back kits are a joke, unless your buying a ROR or MBRP kit that you want custom make. you pay for the "convenience" of the cat back system.

Plus it's probably 409 (surface rust), not rust free 304.

For the price of a comparable muffler shop built 304 stainless free flow muffler and mandrel bent exhaust system with tips I'd have paid more than I paid for my ROR, and I guarantee the quality of the shop built exhaust won't be as precise as my ROR.
