obx long tubes and intake

so me and my dad are swapping the motor in his 97 5.4. he needs to do new manifolds and cats so we are going to do them while the motor is out but the obx longtubes say 99/03 but when i crawled under my 01 and then his 97 everything looks the same except for the hanger were it goes under the tranny. does anybody kno if this is the only difference? also i noticed his intake manifold is aluminum and mine is plastic whats the difference other that that, is one better then the other?

the exhaust really hasn't changed much from 97-08 everything from the headers back is basically the same, and you can very easily make anything work with it. as for your engines, yours is a PI and his is a non PI. i'll let somebody else explain that, or just search for it, lots of good stuff there.

about 20-30 horsepower.

but seriously the biggest is the PI has a higher compression ratio.

I think the EGR tube is different on the manifold end for the 97-98 years.

I don't see why not. I just put on a new tube from Ford on my 03' for about $55. The upper portion of the tube on ebay and the one I just bought look identical though....
