if u want the best performance and sound, high flows with a true dual exhaust system (1 muffler off each cat) and an X pipe, 2.25 or 2.5" piping and watever muffler you decide to go with..but there is a price difference from a SIDO muffler to a true dual system. all about what you want and how much you want to spend.

Hey buddy I know you've been following my upgrade thread, but I thought I'd let you know this here.

My total was a bit more than I expected to spend, but I definitely think it will be worth it. I can now look back and say I got rid of what everyone calls the Slowmasters.

2 x Bullet Mufflers: $80
2 x High-Flow Maggie Cats: $132
1 x X-pipe Crossover: $84
Installation (including pipes and labor): $160

Total: $456

I just have to add in tips as the last step and cost. After researching and getting everyone's help I really feel that this will be a huge improvement my original (duals w/2 x 40 series Flows and no crossover).

What I will probably end up doing is getting the cats and then going from there. I'm sure I will end up going past that but for now just take it a step at a time.

Darren, you posted this in the other exhaust thread.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyMQRwaaZtw video of the mustang.

If you listen to the slow passes the exhaust has a nice deep noise and decently loud, but not like overly annoying loud.

I have a few questions about that, is there a way to get a setup with a similar sound for our trucks. Not meaning noise wise, just how it sounds good at decent speed cruise like slower speeds but not over powering loud. If so, what kind of noise is this going to make at say 70mph going down the highway?

Thanks again for barring with me and answering all my questions. I know I have tons.

Longtubes with no cats is the real only way to get it, and a shorter length exhaust helps too.

good idea. I also remembered another thing, that manual transmission helps make it sound better on the cruise by too. cruising by in 3rd or 4th gear constantly will sound awesome in a stang, in the trucks unfortunatley overdrive kicks in and all that does is drone inside.

Yeah well i knew that, but i didn't know if there was a way to get similar results. Manual def helps get a cruise exhaust noise.

Figured I would update you guys with some out of vehicle videos of my truck. For anyone that doesn't know my plans are to upgrade to high flow cats. I'm trying to get some before videos, so that after others can reference to the difference the high flows make.

Sounds pretty good man, May I request some things, could you measure the length, width, and thickness of your muffler? I'm almost positive its a Flowmaster 40, it just has that gurgle sound to it exactly like a 40.

Darren quick measurements 13" long, 8-9" wide, 4-4 1/2" tall

from flowmasters site looks like the measurements are about that of the 40 series.
