Cheap exhaust option. Would this work?

After putting aside the money for my lift, tires, and wheels, I am running low on cash but want my truck to actually sound like a truck once the lift is done. I am looking at the Dynomax Bullet and was wondering how a 2.5" Bullet would sound with stock pipes. I was planning on just getting the muffler and having a shop switch them out for me and keeping everything else how it is. Atleast for now. Would that work?

A Bullet will sound great on it and be very affordable.

yes it will sound good. i have a 3" bullet, 3" from the Y back. ur basically just doing a hack and weld. also, spend the extra 50 bucks and get a decent 3.5 or 4" tip to replace with the ugly stock pipe. You can still exit it in the stock location to save money

You can even do the work yourself if you really want to save $$$. Removing the muffler and the pipe its easy, just use WD40 n let it sit there for a while.

Thanks for the info everyone, and yes I was also planning on getting a new tip. But for doing it myself, does that mean just clamp the muffler on? Reading around I know everyone recommends to get it welded on by a shop.

If you are going to have on permanently yes have it welded on. but if it's going to be for a year or less until you have the money for a better one than doing it yourself wouldn't be a bad thing IMO. I clamped it, no exhaust leaks and plenty of areas where you can secure the muffler.

Sounds good. I am only planning on keeping this setup as a temporary until I have the money to afford a full system

If you do the work yourself you will also need to have a little bent pipe made to mate up to the curve of the OEM muffler offsets and make up for the difference of the stock muffler and the Bullet's length, which if you get a 12" Bullet it will be about 20"s because your OEM muffler is 32 massive inches long.

What would you get first? The muffler or an exhaust tip? And which one would affect the sound more? I'm thinking the muffler but I'm not 100% sure...

I had a 2.5" bullet dumped for starters on my silver truck, paid 20 bucks for the muffler used, and 20 bucks to have it welded in
