best pipe and pipe size for performance

I hate to post another thread about exhaust but i have a question that hasnt been answered yet. I would like to know which size pipe is the best for my 2001 5.4 and wether an x pipe or a y pipe will give me more performance...i am planning on doing true duals with long tubes, high flow cats, and either bullets or xr-1's but i just want opinions on the pipe. thanks for the help

most people here would say 2.5" for duals
as for the x and h. im almst positive the x is more for perfomance and
h is for sound.

It depends on if you plan for forced induction later down the road.

N/A engines should stick to 2.25 (more low end torque)-2.5 (more top end power) inch, while supercharged/turbocharged engines can go bigger.

Jarame posted a chart of X vs H pipes on a 5.0 Mustang, and the H-pipe actually made better low to mid range torque, while the X-pipe made better mid to high end power. Then Darren came along and debunked it because on F150's, the driver side pipe is substantially longer than the passenger side. So in the F150's case, the H-pipe is better for top end power, while the X is best for low end torque.

Well if you want the best low end torque, then go for 2.25 inch pipes.

x3. Best bet.

Bullets would be affordable and loud, but XR-1s would last forever and sound incredible, but you pay for the Borla quality.. and name
