I am looking at getting the K&N air filter and didnt know whether you have to get a chip to make it run correct. I had an 02' that I put a K & N on and hushmaster dual pipes and didnt tune it at all and never had a problem

With the new 3V engine, there is a possibility of running lean, although that possibility is greatly reduced for 2006 models and later. However, you get only about half potential out of a CAI without custom tunes. You get about as much from the intake mod you see described in the How To section. Just not worth it as far as I'm concerned, unless you get a custom tune for it.

Mine is an 06' KR Screw with the 5.4 3V. Tech says the computer adjust automatically. But I have read on here that it needs to be tuned. looking at the K&R COI.

The computer contains a table that allows it to adjust as air volume changes. The problem is that a CAI goes above the table range. You need custom tunes that includes an expanded table. Just one of the programming changes.
