u pay for the name and reputation. spectre uses 4" tubing vs 2.5"-3" from K&N. i would go with spectre

You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two if you install them on your truck.

However, the Spectre is 4"? You may need a tune to run it properly, even on the 2V 5.4L.

negative. i spoke to a rep from spectre and i asked due to the excessive size of the piping, will it cause the truck to run lean on a 2v 5.4L motor. he said hes had many of these motors run the system, and not one came back with issues. however with the 3v as we all know, ull need that tune.

Eh... You could talk to reps from all of the major companies (K&N, AEM, Volant, ect.) about running an intake on a 3V and all of them would say "you'd have no problems". Many of them don't truely know.

I'd get it on a dyno regardless. That's a huge freakin' pipe.

I have the spectre cold air intake on my 2001 screw 5.4 (2V) and it works just find. I didn't have to reprogram the computer . I can tell a difference in my truck with it on. the truck seems to be louder and the throttle response is better. And with it on it has not thrown any codes. It is just a bolt on kit. you can reprogram it if you want to get more power.

I have the spec. intake on my expedition.. the only complaint is the filter is freakin long I need to figure out how to relocate the radiator reservoir so i can get better and cooler airflow to it. If it your intake makes a funny noise you'll need a new idle air control valve.

From: missing Texas...
unless you change the MAF size the 2 valve motors have a hard time running lean regardless of the intake size...
