Ive got a 96 with the 4.9 I6..i have a 3" single exhaust on it already but id like to swap out the muffler. I need to know which muffler would be the loudest both in AND out of the cab. kinda prefer to get more of a desiel sounds out of it i know its somewhat possible. flowmaster 44? suggestions?

isnt it a 4.9 i6? 300 ci? thats a big 6. 44 would sound good. idk much about those motors, but usually chambered mufflers (flowmaster, maybe even spintech) sound the best/loudest on motors like that.

 

well i dont really like the way the 4.9 sounds with aftermarket exhaust. but i personally think flowmasters sound the best on the 4.9. now as far as loudest muffler, probably a glasspack, but then it would sound like crap IMO. what kind of diesel sound? theres too many types and sounds.

 

Flowmaster does sounddecent on 6cyls.

If you really want a diesel like sound a Corsa muffler might help it sound like so, or a little like a Corvette, they have hardly any bass to them.

 

i'd say more like the cummins since its the big version of the 300 basically

 

ur not gonna get a diesel sound that ur thinking of out a gas motor, especially an I6. just go with a 44.
