hoping for some help choosing an exhaust

So I have a 2007 Screw XLT 5.4L V8 and I want to put in a full cat back exhaust. I want to have twin straight pipes coming out the back and as far as sound, I do not want something ridiculously loud but more of something that has a nice deep smooth rumble to it. Also hoping to get something that will give me some performance gains and will compliment the S&B CAI that I have.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help

Any muffler that is straight through, like a Borla, Magnaflow, Dynomax, Corsa, Roush, etc. will fit the bill. If you don't want it that loud I would go with a muffler around 16-20 inches long. If you want two pipes out the back you can either do a SI/DO or true duals. Just remember to keep the pipe diameter reasonable or you will actually lose power. I would go 2.25 for true duals and 2.5" into 2.25" for a SI/DO, or possibly 3" into 2.5, max.

from the research I have done I was thinking about a magnaflow SI/DO with a 3" headpipe and 2.5" tailpipes and an 18" muffler. what is the main difference between SI/DO and true duals?

the main difference is the true duals have one pipe and set of cats for each exhaust manifold then an x or h pipe and two mufflers then two pipes out the back. where as the si/do is just one muffler with 2 out.

im running a dynomax bullet 3" flow through and like the sound which isnt ridiculously loud but only have a single exit. you could run a y pipe and two bullets so you have 2 exits. i think patman had a set-up like that on his old truck

You state you have twin straights, is that dual pipes already? or a Y pipe and a second tailpipe?

Magnaflow 14" rounds or 11" bodies are loud as straights but keep that deep tone.

I think the 3" in 2.5" out SI/DO would work well for what you want. I really love the way my Dynomax Ultra Flow sounds, honestly you can't really go wrong with any straight through muffler. They will all sound a tad different but basically, they all sound like a nice deep v8 rumble

So here is what I am thinking of going with...

http://www.autoanything.com/exhausts...A3570A0A0.aspx

The only problem is I have a 5.4L Supercrew with a 6.5' bed and the options are only for Supercrew with the short 5.5" bed. There is an option for Supercab with 6.5" bed. Any idea on which option I would choose? Sorry if this is a completely idiotic question.

Let me know what ya'll think in regards to that set-up

Thanks

Neither option will work. the scab 6.5 and the screw 5.5 are the same length both shorter than your truck

if i was you id by the muffler you want itself then go to a good shop and have them fab up the pipes the way you want and you know youll have the right lengths. mine cost around 80-90 to install with a ss tip plus 40 for the muffler.
