4.6L 2000 Exhaust Set-Up, Bullet Magnaflow Pricing ???
Hey F150 OWNERS.
I've been talking about a set up for so long...
So I just want some opinions to whether the price and the job the guy will be doing is worth $330. I bargained for $300, but we'll see.
First of my truck:
2000 Ford F-150 obviously. It's 4.6L with 2.5 pipes.
Muffler:
Magnaflow Bullet 14" ( I think ) 3" I/O
What he said he will do is flare the pipes and put it in the muffler.
(I got 1 free resulting in me thinking about going for dual)
Question:
Will I lose/gain HP or Torque with any of these set-up
Should I go with the 3" or dual?... He still said $330 with the 3"
Is 2.5" good for dual or should I be going smaller?
Heres a paint drawing of what he proposed to do. Also... A (dual 2.5")
or B (3" single? Or if you got better idea... please share them, Thanks!...

BTW.. i asked to do a X pipe but he didn't think I should since its seperate pipes already.

Do you mean Dynomax Bullets or Magnaflow Magnapacks?
A will perform better with 2.25 inch pipes and a X-pipe, you can buy one for less than $50.
B is better for towing, but A is best for overall performance.

Magnaflow Magnapacks, the one used for 'Stangs.
I understand B being 3" is good overall too. Since both pipes are 2.5/2.5 it exits 2.5 stock. But if I change that too 2.5/2.5 exiting 3" isn't that good for performance too?
BTW... what do you guys think about the price? Orginally $330, but I asked for $300 Thats for the flaring, bending pipes, labor.
Also will going dual eat more gas or 3"?

If you start out with 2.5, you need to go all the way to the tips at 2.5. The tips don't affect performance, just sound. But since you have a stock N/A motor, 2.25 inch pipes will give you more low end power.
You can go to performancepeddler.com and buy a 2.25 or 2.5 inlet X-pipe for $50. It's also made from stainless steel, so no rusting.
$300 sounds a bit high. I'm getting mine done (nearly identical to yours) Friday for just $140. The only difference in mine is that I'm using a H-pipe to cut costs. All the other places I got quotes from were either $200-$250. Depending on the pipe bending method does affect the price a good bit. I'm getting smooth bent, while mandrel bent pipes would be the best but the most expensive.
If you have the proper size pipes and a X-pipe, mileage won't change much if any at all.

Well I guess I'll be puting the dual on hold, and just go with the 3" single..
Thanks for the info too, I need to ask what kinda bend they are going to do.
I'm guessing its the same as yours. Yours sound REALLLLLY CHEAP lol compared to the *******en price those
guys gave me.
Money is tight and their the only good shop so far that has a pipe bender.
All I need to do is go back and ask for a respectable price.
Anyways I can sell this extra magnapack for like $200 lol
I recover my cash and make another $100 ..
But for now 3"....
Got any idea if its worth it to go to 3" or just swap out my muffler?

I think it would be worth it to go 3 inches all the way back. A lot of these cat-backs you see are 3 inch and they do really well for towing and such.
