Explain to me.

Why does a Mustang sound so much better than a truck? Shorter exhaust? Please explain.

I don't think most newer Mustangs sound all that great.
I really hate that "20 feet of aluminum down spout"sound.

My old 73 LTD had the best sound....
True duals (but no crossover) with Midas Turbo mufflers. Nice mellow growl until you stuck your foot in it.

It originally had a 400, but I swapped in a 351M with a 750 Holley on an Edelbrock Performer manifold. No headers, just stock manifolds. It had a 2.75 rear though...no much off the line, but 105MPH @ 5K in SECOND gear.....

Ahhh, the good old days, when cars had the aerodynamics of a thrown brick....

both have different intakes, and tunes, some supercharged, and exhaust bends(if it matters that much).
stang= H/X pipe.
truck= y pipe, single 2.5" mid pipe.

some stangs had the dohc 4.6(gt500 has the dohc 5.4) and the stock gt's had the 2v sohc 4.6. the new 05+ gt's have the 3v 4.6. the closest to a mustang sound in a truck would be with the 4.6 2v(for the 2v gt sound) and the new trucks that have the 3v (for the 3v gt sound). i'm just assuming those are the stangs you are talking about? the ones with the modular engines?
you can get a similar sound out of the trucks but it will never sound exactly the same.

3v 5.4's with the Roush Off Road exhaust sound better than a v8 mustang to me, but I'm biased.

The only way you will ever be able to replicate the patented "mustang sound" is to build a true dual exhaust from the ground up.
Hi-flow cats
2.25 inch pipes
Magnapacks/SLP's/etc.
H/X pipe
3-3.5 inch tips
shorty/long tube headers

Go out to you brothers car and measure the pipes, find out what mufflers he has, if he has an X-pipe or H-pipe, headers and aftermarket cats.

Flowmaster 40's really aren't that distinctive mustang sound, but the factory H pipe and 2.25 inch pipes do make it unique.

Very true. An F150 with 40s and a Mustang with 40s, the Mustang will still sound different/better.

Although this is running an OR/H ( no cats ) it will be a little louder.
