Show me your TIPS!! 04-08 Exhaust

Finally I can post a thread, it took long enough. So I have been reading all these threads about a great sounding exhaust at an inexpensive price. I have decided to go with a Magnaflow SI/DO with 2.25” tail pipes for my 06 5.4L FX4. I went to have it installed today but the shop only carries the 18” muffler and claimed they have never put a 14” dual out on a truck. I found it strange, but I had him order the 14” thanks to the advice from this website (DarrenWS6). What I still haven’t determined is if I want to have the pipes come straight out the back or at a 45 degree angle toward the corner of my bumper. Also I think I’m going with a 3.5/18” chrome tip b/c I want to sand it down and paint it black? Good idea or bad idea?

Could you guys throw me some suggestions or post pics of your tips to help me decide?

Also I have a K&N CAI on my truck but have not bought a tuner yet. It doesn’t seem to be running lean, but how would I know if it’s causing damage?

Thanks in advance for the help, and this is a great website!!!

That is a great looking setup. Do i need to do a 10 degree down angle? The other thing is i'm just getting basic chrome cut off tips b/c it included in the price. I would prefer rounded off like yours instead. Am i allowed to say how much the setup is costing me? I saw one thread that said you can't dicuss price?!?

everyone always says what prices they are getting, idk where u got that from..

and truckguy has a sido 14" magnaflow. so idk why they wouldnt put one on for you. u wont get much drone if u put the muffler as far back to the rear axle as possible. i would suggest buying the muffler and tips online from summit racing or other sites and have your shop weld it up.

Only if you want. My Silverado done by the same guy, he did it exiting leveled, I didn't like it much, so I asked he angle them down a little and he did a fantastic job.

Cant discuss price? Where did you read that, and why would that be a big deal? I have $560 invested into my exhaust. Am i in trouble now?

HAHA I saw someone get an ear full from Admin for discussing a price on one of these threads. Just didn't want to get blocked from posting threads. So the deal is the entire system installed with chrome tips for $300+tax. If I go with Stainless steel tips it would be $350. I figured I would just stick with the chrome and once it starts looking bad i'll paint them black. I think black tip look pretty BA! Was it a good choice to go with the 14" maggies?

Oh I see. I didn't hear about that. But talking about general exhaust pricing shouldn't be bad, its to help a fellow member receive their exhaust because price is always a factor, theres no sales going on here.

Magnaflow is an excellent muffler, very respectable and great sounding.

Not to get off topic here, but what???? Where did yall get this can't discuss price stuff? I must be misreading something cause prices have been discussed all over the place. Anyway, the magnaflow is a great sounding muffler on these trucks regardless of what size you go with. I have had pipes on different trucks exit different locations. Right now my stainless tip is in the stock location behind the rear tire. My only thought about it coming straight out the back is it seems to be a little easier to keep clean. Hoewever if you tow something nice or have one of those hitch haul things you may not want the hot exhaust shooting right out on it? But go with what look you like, it's not a big deal either way!
