Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum. I own a 08 F-150 5.4L. I want to get Flowmasters on it, but I don't know which ones. The sound I am going for is a deep clean sound, not sounding like it has junk rolling around in the muffler. If you guys could help I'd greatly appreciate it. I put a video below of the sound I am going for.

40 or 44 depending on how loud u want it

 

In the vid, those are flowmaster in a true dual set-up. It says the muffler is a supers40 series cross flow, so that should be a super 40 di/do. If I were you and wanted a deep set-up I would suggest magnaflow if you want deep but not obnoxious. Flowmaster have a louder idle than maggies and are usually louder in general but they have more rasp and do not flow as well as a maggie. Another option could be to get a dynomax bullet. Deep, loud and get out of my way sound. Migdaddy has one but his complaint was drone, which you would see on a flowmaster becuase it is a chambered muffler which makes it louder. The bullets are a straight thru design so they flow very well. Here's my thoughts. Loud with rasp: Flowmaster. Deep and clean but not quite as loud: Magnaflow and Loud deep and clean: Dynomaz bullet. We also need to know how you want it to exit so we can help you pick the right muffler. Closer to the cab would creat more drone, where as a muffler placed under the bed with the pipes exiting Straight out the back or 45'd behind the rear tire(s) would make for less drone.

 

if u like that sound i would reccomend true dual supper 44 flowmasters with an X pipe, and 2.5 inch diameter piping. Before u jump on the magnaflow bandwagon be sure you know the sound difference and you wont have the volume that a flowmaster does OR the tone flows have.

 

That shop does decent work, but they're retards. Its not a true dual due to the DI/DO Super 40, and it does not add the power and gas mileage they claim... but its a online sales add I guess

Sorry I should have stated that in the original post. I want the Exhaust to come out of the back. The mangaflow's I was listening to I couldn't seem to find a deep clean sound like the Flowmasters have. Maybe I'm missing something. I'm new to the truck exhaust things, as this F150 is my first Truck. I'm only 16 So if I wanted that sound on my origianl post with the True Dual what would i go with? Flowmasters, and what pipes, tips, etc.. ?

Hey man Travis from MWC.... i have cat back 40 series si/do 2.5" out the back with 4"x 18" tips. My truck is one the best sounding/loudest fords around here. here in MD we cant have true duals so throw that out the window!!!

 

Why cant you have true duals? Its nothing illegal.

 

most cities/countys in states have strict limitations for exhaust changes. Such as cat changes, or if it came with 1 muffler, it needs only 1 muffler.
