Dumped vs. rear exit exhaust question
I have true duals w/ Super 40s that exit out the back right now. I was wondering if this setup or if I dumped it about 2" after the mufflers would be louder for both me and people outside the truck but still retain good sound quality. Thanks for any and all imputs.
Yesterday, I cut my tips off and now it's dumped after the back axle. It's a lot quieter without the tips inside and outside. When you really get on the throttle it sounds more old-school.
I had a pair of super 40's that were 45'd out the back and then ran em dumped for a month or so before the rear axle and it was louder in cab as well as a bit louder outside.

the shorter the length that the exhaust flows the louder it will be. i personally dont like turn downs. its just echo noise. my favorite is side exit, but beware of drone, i cant handle it. i have a dynomax bullet that was side exit and it sounded so damn wicked, mustang like, but the drone was terrible on the highway. its now 45d single out the rear and very little drone, and maybe 10% quiter outside.
the main difference will be inside the cab. unless people are standing right next to where the pipes exit, the difference wont be huge from the outside. you will experience increased interior noise tho
My quality is awesome. Since I have the 44's it just has this real deep idle thats noticeable anywhere around it. Then when you take off it gets pretty loud. The part I really like is when you get around 65-75 there is pretty much no drone. It just has about that same deep roar as it does when it's idleing.
And I know this is in the wrong area, but I just have a simple question about the rear axle of the 2wd 04 F150s. What kind is it? Is it a 8.8" 31 spline or what? I'm trying to get a locker.
