exhaust question

can someone tell me which flowmaster that closely compares with the 14" si/do magnaflow. im referring strictly on sound basis. im thinking the 14" more closely compares with the super 44 flow. am i right on that or am i off. im about to get an exhaust and think i want the 14" si/do maggie but not totally sure. i want that deep rumble sound but not obnoxiously loud either. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks, nsanef150

While I don't have the answer to your question, I'm looking for similar information. I'm trying to find out which Magnaflow would be similar to the Flowmaster 50 series.

Is the about the volume you're looking for?

i had a flowmaster 50 series on my truck and it was not much louder than stock. i am hoping the magnaflow 14" is much louder than the 50. im hoping its more like the flowmaster 40 but without the bad drone.

super 44 is way way louder than a 14" Magnaflow. The 50 series delta is the most comparable muffler to the 14" Magnaflow. Low interior noise, not so loud outside

Just like my Magnaflows inside.

There are a few around... youtube it. I love mine it gets a bit louder every so often as it breaks in. It's decently loud exactly what I wanted. Growls on my truck at 1800rpm when I turn onto the state road. Around town rumbles noticeably but not obnoxious.

thats what i am afraid of about the maggie 14" muffler. if it is comparable to the flow 50 series, then i dont want that muffler. i thought the 14" would be the muffler for me but maybe not. is the super 44 a little quieter than the flow 40 series? would that be a better way to go for me? i want a nice deep rumble at cruising and at idle but not to obnoxiously loud. how is the drone with the 44? i just dont want to buy the wrong muffler and then have to buy another one. i have heard some clips on youtube but they can be misleading. not sure what muffler to buy. feeling frustrated as to which muffler to get.

The 44 is LOUD, louder than the 40 series. It is Flowmaster's best flowing but like all two chamber mufflers, they drone, hence Dronemaster jokes. I like you, was confused, and the clips are misleading. I love exhausts to the point where it's more than music, however, I did not want an obnoxious look at me thing. I do not floor my truck or romp on it, but you can hear my exhaust. I look to see if people can hear it, some turn some a don't. To me the 14" si/do is the best of both worlds (Don't starting singing Hannah Montana ) It has a throaty sound under acceleration (believe me, it's not quiet at all) and has a nice deep tone at cruise. Again, you can always here this exhuast (at all times) It is quieter at idle than the flows, but it is deeper and sounds cleaner which IMO sounds better. I have recieved many compliments from people that know a thing or two about this stuff, but do not fret if people don't "notice it." Most people are ignorant with this stuff and don't look or notice unless it is obnoxious. People are stupid and dumb and don't care becuase they are ignorant when it comes to vehicles, let alone mods. I highly suggest this muffler and don't forget hi flows can always be added increase the sound if desired. I was a bit lengthy, but I hope that helps some. Ignore my youtube clip, unless you have a sub woofer, it sounds too quiet. A good gauge of sound is Darren's after install vid when he has all 4 cats on his truck. But unless you have nice speakers, you can't tell very well. Best of luck buddy

hey truckguy, i really, really appreciate all the info you have given me. thanks to darren as well. i think you have convinced me to go with your setup. sorry to beat this thing to death, but i have one chance with this. i have saved up my pennies and would like to do it right the first time. i listened to you clip and i thought it sounded to quiet. so your saying it is louder than the clip portrays? i really like darren setup as well but not sure what i would have to do to go true duals. just curious, what would it take to go true duals and what effect does it have on our trucks. is it legal to have? i live in california and we have to smog our vehicles every so often. wondering if it would pass inspection. i just dont know much about exhausts. i think you have me convinced on your setup. i will let you know what i finally purchase. thanks again for all the help i am getting. nsanef150

I appreciate the info, also. I'm leaning towards dueling out the back with maggie 14's. Still not sure about an xpipe. Or, should I just use a si/do? Like nsane said, I only want to do this once.

I think the true duals will be queiter than a si/do until you get hi-flow cats. And no problem guys, we are here to help. I struggled myself for months with this and now it's my turn to give back

I'm not sure what you are asking. Sorry man. If you are asking what to get if the 14" is not loud enough, then yes, you could get 2 hi-flows to make a difference in the sound.
