getting an exhaust

yo guys!
im new around here and just got my new (used) ford!!!!
i want to get true dual exhuast with some single chambers

is there any specific muffler out there or are they all pretty much the same sound wise?
any advice would help!!

also i need advice as to what to do first if its not to much to ask. i plan on doing this to her
-getting a suspension or body lift(no idea what would be better)
-paint job
-new tires and rims
-getting a k&n performance air intake
-getting headers(not sure about this)
and many more small add ons(hid's, smoked lights, etc...)

so ya. wasnt sure where to ask all that but there you go!

help a newbie out!!!!!!!!!!

What engine is in your truck? Ive got some videos of my truck in my signature, its a true duel setup with an x pipe and super 44s. Welcome to the site, is this your first F150?

true duals with no cats or hi-flow cats, and Dynomax Bullets would be very loud, deep sounding low rpm, straight pipe screaming WOT.

Thanks, the best thing to do, would be to get on you tube, there is a ton of exhaust vids of F150s with different kinds of setups that may help you choose what you want. One word of advice though, this site has a tendency to make your wallet a lot thiner. lol Also, before doing any intake mods the 5.4s will run way to lean with any kind of aftermarket cold air intake (CAI), so you will need a custom tune to keep from damaging the engine, I love my PHP Gryphon. Checkout there site http://dygytalworld.ehost-services139.com/php/

and ya as iv read everyone throughs out some expensive stuff lol
i dont really get fat checks. being 17 sucks man!!

i plan on getting the gryphon in like 3 months
but do i get it first THEN get the intake n all that or install what i want
then get the gryphon really soon after?

thanx for the replys guys.

You should do the DWV intake mod... search it and you will find a lot of stuff on it. No tuner is needed, I would still get the Gryphon the reap the full benefits. Welcome btw

please dont ruin your truck with straights. if u want that sound without the crackle and pop noise, put dual dynomax bullets on it. link in my sig to my single 3" bullet. i would wait to do high flow cats until your exhaust is done, and see if you want it any louder or what not. the best performance mods for your truck will be exhaust, (NOT STRAIGHT PIPES, u will lose low end tq), tuner, and long tube headers eventually. welcome to the site. your pay checks will now belong to F150online

no cats would be illegal, but be very very loud. hi-flow cats would be legal depending on inspection/emission allowances, and almost as loud.

It'll drone like hell inside. Patrick ( patman03sprcrw ) did a dumped bullet, he liked the sound but from his videos it was very loud inside.

So run tailpipes...

I dont mean to start the dumped vs tailpipe debate but I personally hate dumped exhaust, unless its done on a lowered truck. Big trucks need dual tailpipes either exiting before tire, straight out the back, or 45'd out the back. '04+ 4wds look amazing with 45'd out the back imo.

Tailpipes sound better to me too, its a very little bit calmer with a clearer sound since its guided towards the exterior of the truck, and tips give a little metallic like sound and helps megaphone the sound further away, which makes tailpiped exits louder than dumps, and keeps the sound inside decent.
