i have a 2004 5.4L with an air raid CAI but its giving me too much air. the truck is running lean to the point that the engine light comes on. ive had to clean the fuel filter out once already so its a possibility of something in my gas tank clogging it up, but i still this the CAI has a lot to do with the problem. Any advice on what to do? maybe have bill @php write a custom tune? or take the CAI off and run stock intake? or is there any way i can put a clear filter on one of my fuel lines to see if there actually is debris in my tank?

 

Here's what I would do. Take it off asap, and put the stock intake back on. Order a Gryphon tuner with custom tunes of your choice. If you want some performance, do the DWV intake until you get your tunes. My thing is, they will perform very similar so you way even decide to keep your homemade intake once you get your tunes. That's what I would do

 

That year truck runs almost lean from the factory. The CAI is the cause of your problem and will damage the engine. If you want to keep the CAI the only fix is a custom tune. If your already experiencing problems I would remove it until you get a tune.

 

well i bought the truck with the CAI on it... so unfortunately i dont have a stock one to put on it. i figured that was the problem. when i order a custom tune do i just fill out the order form or do i call and talk to someone about it? does anyone have a stock air filter they are interested in selling?

 

Saw some in the past on ebay.

 

Check the classifieds in the forum, someone may have one, or just post in the wanted section. There are probably several folks that have one laying around since there is not much of a demand for used stock intakes? I don't have the Gryphon so i am not sure about the ordering process? Probably could find that info over in the tuner section.
