quiet exhaust recommendations

I just bought a 02 extended cab 5.4l that someone put a true dual flowmaster "like" exhaust on it, and it is annoyingly loud. I'm in the dc area, and estimates run from 700 to 900 to cure the noise level.

I leave at 5am for work and my neighbors should rightly want to choke the you know what out of me, if I leave it the way it is. I've seen recommendations on a mustang forum to wrap everything in exhaust tape. Has anyone had any luck with this?

What's the best recommendation for quieting an unruly exhaust system without cutting a pipe?

i would just spend about 300 bucks with installation and the cost of the muffler and get a 22" magnaflow.

Nix the tape job! Man....some people!

As far as not cutting a pipe, I doubt your going to accomplish what you want without doing so. (tape job included)

Go to local muffler shops, if what you have on there is in decent shape, chances are you can find someone who will buy your mufflers. You might need to find two donors since you're true dual.

Good luck!

You will need quieter mufflers. Only remedy that will work.

ganna have to cut, you can either get new mufflers or it might be cheaper to look around for exhasut resonators, still going to have to cut in order to put them in.
