yes, will change the tone and affect performance

the H-pipe will aid in better low end with a more mellow yet choppier sound while the X-pipe will aid in high rpm power and add a lil' mellowness to your raspiness you've got now

so probably an H-pipe for the sound you want

get on you tube and listen to some clips (even 2 valve mustangs will sound similar to your truck) and find what you like better, if you hate your exhaust you'll hate driving your truck so better make sure you like it

I know with my stang the O/R H will be more throatier and the X is a raspy sound. I know the X creates more HP in stangs not sure on the f150's.

X pipe cross flows better balancing scavenging which helps low end..

H-pipes sound good, but don't perform as well as X-pipes.

me and my friends have done custom exhasuts for years now on all of our trucks and we have always used H-pipe set-ups so i recomend that. Good luck.
