Curiosity is killing my cats...

Here goes... '02 F150 5.4L... Wanted a good sound without drone b/c of the "through stereo system bluetooth" that is featured on a JVC 7000... So I ended up going with a SI/DO kit from Flowmaster part# 17222... Its a 50 series muffler with 2 1/2" mandrel bent tails and some dinky little 3" x 12" tips.. It has no drone at all, a decent tone, but not quite the volume I was looking for... I have really been contemplating cutting in a super 40 or super 44 but I just dont want the drone... So... I have read through all of the other threads about cat deletes and high flow cats and cant seem to get what im looking for... I have a shop that will delete the cats, so no problem there... But here's what I need to know: If I DELETE the cats, will it add drone in the cab? I know if i do high flows it wont... But man are they proud of those things... Also how much volume and tone difference am I going to notice in each scenario? And finally, if deleted, which cats can I ditch without catching a CEL? Thank you guys so much in advance... You all seem to be very helpful to each other...

i may be wrong here so someone can correct me. i think a magnaflow 18" muffler with a rear cat delete(maybe 2 highflows to replace front convertors) may be closer to what your looking for. if you delete your rear cats, it will be quite a bit louder and most likely have more drone than your wanting.

Deleting the cats all together will cause drone, and even hi-flow cats tend to increase drone but not very badly.

So maybe delete the rears, go with high flows on the fronts and turn off the rear 02's?

You can just remove the rears and run the fronts only, but no guarantee on no CEL. Replacing all 4 cats with two hi-flow converters may just be best.

Right on Darren.... That does sound like the plan to go with.. Just got off the phone with Magnaflow and that was the same thing they said.. The guy said, "do you live in Cali? If not, ditch all 4 and go with 2 hi flows..." LOL! Said it shouldnt gain much drone at all either...
