New Louder Exhaust

Hey guys I have a 1990 F150 and currently have Flowmaster 40 Series Exhaust. SI/DO. I wanted to make it louder but dont know what to do or what different type of muffler to get. Ive heard that a Hi Flow Cat will help. Any help will do. Thanks.

I got the Borla XR-1, when I redid my exhaust, its very loud...si/so 3 inch from header collector to tip. I had dual flowmasters super 40's dumped and there is no comparison... The Borla in my opinion is way better in sound performance, from idle to WOT...

cherry bomb makes a one-chamber SI/DO muffler that you could swap in to replace the two-chamber flowmaster. The one-chamber will be louder than what you have now. Don't get glass packs though, look for the one called Cherry Bomb "Extreme" Muffler.

Flowmaster makes a one-chamber also, but they do not offer it in a SI/DO, just SI/SO. Just a little info for you. good luck.

first thing i would do is cut out the second cat(if 2 cat system) if 1 cat then replace it with a high flow. i have a 2 cat system on mine and cutting out the second cat made a huge difference.

if that still aint loud enough then if your front cat is a dual inlet single outlet then put a y pipe there and put a high flow where your second one is/was. if both are si/so then just put a piece of pipe in place of one and a high flow for the other.

i gutted out my front cat(di/so) and i lost a bit of bottom end power doing this instead of the y pipe but thats because i'm gonna go true dual soon. and i have a high flow in place of my second cat and a knockoff flowmaster 40 series muffler and it is much much louder than with the stock cat setup. it aint super loud or anything(its only a little 302) but it does get some heads to turn.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but the single chamber FM is made in si/do. Its not offered on their website, but a friend of mine bought one from a muffler shop and has it installed. Lots of ppl say its not made but it is. just gotta look for it harder lol
