Dumped or out the back??

Which would perform better?? Which would be louder?? Any power loss/gain(HP/TQ) with either?? It would be using magnaflow 11249 muffler. 3" pipe. on a 07 5.4
Thanks

Dumped= louder inside, but quieter outside
Out the back=louder due to sound quidance with usually reduced interior resonance.

Not sure about any power loss or gain, but 3" si/so is the best perforaming seup and that is what you are doing. However, out the back would look a bit odd if you ask me. I would suggest a setup like stock if you decide not to dump it and top it off with a 4" tip

Exactly what TruckGuy said. Dumped will make it louder inside but unless your very low to the ground it wont roar very loudly, tips on tailpipes echo an exhaust note much better and when its guided to the outside is much better. 45'd out the back does this best.

thanks guys, If I were to get it out the back I was gonna go with the stock location(sorry I didnt mention). the thing is that they charge me over 100 more for the tail pipe(178-dump, 300-out back) does this sound right???
thanks again for the help!

Yea out the back requires about 4 feet more of tubing and some complicated bends. Its going to be quite a bit more.

the extra money also probably includes a tip. i would get the 14" for a little extra sound.

The price sounds right, tailpipes do cost a bit more but are worth it imo.

14" body is great.

I have the 14" si/do I *******ing love it. I have recieved many compkiments on it and the si/so 14" body will be deeper than the 18" and a decent amount louder. Don't worry, not obnoxious very deep esp at low rpms. BTW, adds a nice mpg increase... I seem to have gained .75-1mpg. I just filled up today... 16.9 mpg all around town

Yup, that would look great... I highly suggest a 4"x18" SS Exhaust tip. Magnaflow makes them, but the shop I went to stocks the same thing, just a different brand due to the magnaflow name stamped on the edge of the maggie brand, adding unnessesary cost.

here are some pics:

I like mine tucked a tad under the rear quarter panel becuase it is protected by my mudflaps.

Mines a si/do, but subtract the left side and you would have you're set-up
