Glasspack ?'s
Howdy folks, new guy here. Not new to fords, but certainly to f-150's. Coming from a ford ranger to this is night and day. Couldn't be happier. Anyways, I was thinking on adding a glasspack and have the pipe exit before the rear tire. Now my question is, I would love to put it on myself, is it difficult too if i went to like an advanced auto to get the piping they have and the glasspack itself there? Or what would you suggest? and my other question is how will it effect the low/top end of the trucks power? I figured since its a straight through design it would help it some. I don't want to spend tons of money on exhaust like i have with my past trucks, just something simple that has a good loudness to it. Got to take advantage of that v8 sound lol. Anyways, i have a 2002 reg cab short bed 2wd with the 4.6 triton v8. Any input or suggestions, feel free. Again its great to be here. Seem like a group of nice people here.

Hi, and welcome to the best F-150 site out there.
A "glasspack" style muffler is a sraight thru design and will give you the best gains. Magnaflow and others also make a similar style mufflers and will give similar results. If you want the best gains, then stay away from flowmasters, they actually lose some bottom end torque for the sake of sound.
If funds allow, try getting a stainless cat-back setup like this one

If you don't want to spend that much, just buy a SI/SO magnaflow muffler and some clamps, then you will have that magnaflow sound at a reasonable price.

What's your budget for exhaust? I got a true-dual system installed on my truck for only $275...

PS: If you have any other questions, try using the "Search" button near the top of your screen, odds are someone else had the same question.
Edited to Add: 05RedFX4, which MT tune are you running that got you 248RWHP 309RWTQ?

Cool deal. I was just curious since I'm running the same 93 tune, but I've only got the 3.25" AF1 and 2 SISO Flowmaster 40s and turned 253/321 at the wheels.
Wondering if I could't pick up a few more tq if I swapped the flows for 2 SISO Maggies.

GOOD. Great choice. It wont get louder, its a chambered muffler which does not, it will eventually tone out better and sound clearer though as the interior plates are burned and soot settles.
