My exhaust fell off!!!!

Well after only 4 years, my exhaust fell off! I had flowmaster 40s running to the rear and it seems that the tailpipes corroded off from the muffler. I'm pissed, i thought I'd get more life out of them. I called up the shop where it was installed and they said there was nothing they could do because I only had a one year warranty (It was worth a shot). Anyways, there's lots of corrosion and I need a new system. So here's where I need your help....

If I'm going to have to shell out $$$ for a new exhaust I at least want to do something different from what I had. I think I want to go with a "meaner" sound (deeper and louder). Also, instead of having the pipes run straight back, I think I want to them to come out of both rear wheels. Cabin noise is no problem for me...

So my question is, do you guys have any suggestions on what I should get/do to achieve what I want? I was thinking about trying magnaflow this time, but I'm open to anything. I have some money to work with, but I also want to keep it reasonable. Thanks in advance...

what exactly do you want? true duals? catback? whats your budget gonna be? flowmaster now has stainless steel mufflers. you can delete your 2 rear cats and place 2 high flows in place of your front cats for a much louder/meaner sound.

If ya want louder and deeper than look somewhere other than magnaflow. Go with the Flowmaster Super 44 or the Flowmaster 10 race series. Ive heard alot of good things on the Borla XR-1 also http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku the 10 series and the borla is si/so but you can add a y pipe at the end of the muffler and run the two pipes off that unless you do the ture dual setup then just slap on the two mufflers good luck

Can't. The pipe would have to take a lot of awkward turns to get under and around the gas tank on the drivers side. Would look ugly and could get crushed (if you offroad).

If you want more sound; Flow 44, Flow 10, Bullet, or straight pipes.

Whatever you do ---

1. stainless steel pipes
2. mandrel bent
3. x-pipe if you run true duals
4. 2.25-2.5" pipes

AWW Shucks that throws my edit to my exhaust out he window,
well you could angle your tips down a little and now i confused my self........

haha, just remembered when i had my exhaust fall off, i had pulled the whole section past the muffler off, and took like 2.5 stainless, and clamped it in place as a turndonw, dump. well one morning bout 6;30 i was headed to school hit a bump and all i heard was, kading dinkading, so i lokk in my mirror and that thing was flying in the air, so i get to the gas station and start pumping fuel, look under my truck and the turndown is gone obvisouly, and the hanging bracket, the phrase that came out of my mouth was priceless, went back after school found it at the bottom of a 6ft ditch sticking straight up and I put in my bed and went home.
It was pretty funny, Thank god it was on a backroad and noone was on that road

you could always try straight piping it and if you dont like the sound then just put a can in it.

If you want a meaner sound than a Flowmaster 40 and dont mind drone then you wont want Magnaflow, or many other brands out there. You would probably more prefer straight pipes.

x2. Perfect advise for a well performing and long lasting exhaust.

I had straights on my 5.4 and it sounded great. There was none of that nasty popping that some try to achieve, and like I said earlier, if you're not satisfied then you can easily put a muffler inline.

I prefer the 10 series flowmasters, true duel, dumped, no x-pipe or y-pipe, and the Gott's intake mod..check out my sound clips

They just want the sound.. and they succeed but that doesn't mean its healthy for the engine.
